After the heavy conditions of the week before, the MCG was still wet for the Preliminary Final due to continuing rain. Collingwood's smaller men handled the conditions better than the Blues, and led comfortably all day. A four goals to one last quarter was flattering for Carlton - the Pies had already taken their foot well and truly off the pedal.Team
