Game Review
North Melbourne caused the second upset of the round (Melbourne defeated Essendon in the other shock result) when they toppled Carlton who had won ten in a row. Overnight and Saturday morning rain made the ground very heavy and high scoring was out of the question. The Blues recorded their lowest-ever score at VFL Park, and their lowest since 1967 against North. As well, North's winning score was its lowest against Carlton since 1967, although both teams played a fairly high standard when the conditions were considered.
