Game Review
Beating the mid-table Dons was not in itself a super achievement - but doing it at their home ground provided much joy to Carlton's travelling faithful. Hunter (5 goals) and Kernahan (11 marks, 4 goals) led the assault. The third quarter itself was sufficient to stick in the memory, with 10 goals in all in a massive avalanche against the Bombers.
Crush-A-Blues
Carlton produced a scintillating third quarter burst to crush the life out of Essendon at Windy Hill. The Blues, nine points down at half-time, slam on 10 goals in the third term and go on to a crushing 72 point victory. Popular veteran Jim Buckley turns back the clock with a sparkling performance while up forward experienced duo Ken Hunter five goals and skipper Stephen Kernahan four goals do the damage. - Tony Greenberg Inside Football.
