1891 A report from Numurkah in The Argus newspaper on Monday June 22 (p6), mentions that a Walter Kelly badly fractured his leg while playing in a football match at Congupna on Saturday.
He was playing for Numurkah against the home team.
He jumped in the air and on striking the ground his leg turned, and the bone snapped. He was in great pain.
Kelly was on a visit to Numurkah and was a prominent member of the Carlton F. C. and the Clyde Cricket Club.
