Links in Playing Lists

Currently, the Playing List 'Links' section comprises:

Pre-2000:
Generally nil, but occasional link to the year

Post 2000 (incl.2000):
Links to previous and subsequent playing lists and perhaps the year. This has been in place for a while, and originally linked the periods 2000 to 2006 with some time shifting for respective years. It hsa been modified a few times.

I think the Playing Lists links should link to the key summary pages for the years eg. B&F Votes, Brownlow Votes, and the year eg:

Links
Year | Year's Brownlow | Years B&F Votes

What do others think?

I have set up 2000 along these lines, to create cross-links to the year, B&F, Brownlow and Playing List pages.

The idea is that these 4 pages for each year cross-link to each other, and that we don't link forward / back years.

I've set the more recent ones with links to playing lists of previous and next year, the year page and also to the stats leaders- e.g 2005. That way you can see how the lists changed from year to year. I think the year page has links to B&F, Brownlow etc.

Yes, I see what you've done. When the first 5 stat shots (now playing lists) wree put in they linked across all 5 years, and you changed that to prior year / next year some time ago.

My question relates to what the pages SHOULD link to. I think we should be maximising page links to maximise ease of movement around the site, with the only exception being the player's names in game reports as the backlinks function can get cluttered (With this in mind, the stat shots and B&F pages are designed to summarise these and minimise page links to the actual biography).

On another point, we have 3 different ways of adding links at the bottom of the page:

1. Line above the links
Used in game reports 1897 to 2006

2. Box of game links / year links
Used in Year summaries

3. !!!Links
Used for most specialist pages ie histories, stats, tables, stat shots etc.

I wouldn't say we need all 3 but they all seem to suit the respective pages. Does anyone have a different view?

Small point, but a little while ago I changed some of the 'Statistical Leaders in xxxx' pages to be called 'xxx Stat leader'. Only reasons were to keep thte title on 1 line and to make it snappier.

By changing this I may have compromised some of the links in the Playing List sections (2001 to 2006), which naturally should link into the stats leaders pages (plus the years pages).

I am happy to change it back on a Blueseum vote - what sounds better:

Statistical leaders for 2001

or

2001 Stat Leaders?
