Only 10 clubs fielded teams during the second season of the Little League, with the Magpies (Collingwood) and Hawks (Hawthorn) being the only two clubs that elected not to field a team. This was the Swans (South Melbourne's) first year in the Little League, after a 9-team first season in 1967.
The Blues were defeated by the Demons in the inaugural Little League Grand Final. The Blues could be excused for not beating a team that contained future VFL / AFL champions such as St Klida's gun high-flying utility Trevor Barker, Richmond / Collingwood / Essendon and Brisbane Bears centreman Geoff Raines and Melbourne's ever-reliable defender, Steven Smith.
