Game Review
The Blues made the long road trip to Kardinia Park and gleefully avenged their round 1 defeat by Geelong. Despite the absence of John Nicholls, Carlton's rucks controlled the match - especially in a dominant last quarter - to comfortably hold off the home side.We climbed to third after this sixth successive victory - equal on points with Melbourne, but still two wins behind the leaders Essendon.
Carlton's rucks, Serge Silvagni and Graham Donaldson, with rover Peter Falconer were too strong for the Cats. Wes Lofts at centre half-back repulsed many attacks and frequently put the Blues into attack. Bruce McMaster-Smith won consistently on his wing, while Gordon Collis at centre half-forward was strong in attack. - Football Record.
