The battle of Carlton v South Melbourne, 4th and 5th respectively, went the wrong way for the Blues. As a result, the Swans jumped over the Blues on the ladder and pushed us to 6th, after the Bombers thrashed the Bulldogs and also pulled ahead on percentage. In a season with 4 finallists, the Blues would have to win a few of the last matches to be in the play-off rounds.At the end of this round Carlton were in 6th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 112.2.
