Game Review
A disappointing last quarter, but overall a great performance. That 3/4 time score of 22.10 to 3.12 one to savour.''Hunter & Pickering provide highlights
The St John's ambulancemen were on standby at the MCG on Saturday - and with good reason. They were constantly on edge due to the fearless play of Carlton's Ken Hunter and Richmond's Michael Pickering. Both players hurled themselves into packs and flew for marks regardless of their own safety. At times I thought they would finish up in an ambulance - such was the danger they put themselves in with their relentless pursuit of the football. I doubt that there are two more courageous players in the game today than Ken Hunter and Michael Pickering. Not only are they courageous, they also possess heaps of ability. It's a credit to them, the way they play the game. - Michael Roach Inside Football.''
Carlton have unearthed a real star of the future in Stephen Silvagni, son of former Blues' great Sergio. Steve has made an excellent impression in this, his first season of senior League Football. He played extremely well on Saturday against us and showed a maturity far above his 18 years of age. The Blues hold him in very high regard and it's not hard to see why. I'd be surprised if he doesn't go a long way in VFL football. - Michael Roach Inside Football.
