Game Review
Bill Arch replaced John Gill (infected leg) in selected side.Carlton was knocking loudly on the door to the top four after this third straight win for the year over a plucky Hawthorn side at Glenferrie Oval. Tom Carroll and Leo Brereton each kicked three goals, lifting them to third and fourth respectively on the VFL goal-kicking table.
The top four teams at this early stage of the season were Melbourne, Essendon, Footscray and Geelong.
Peter Falconer has settled down at Carlton and is roving in fine style. John Nicholls rucked powerfully and was a great strength in the ruck duels. Martin Cross, John James, Gordon Collis and Serge Silvagni often came under notice. Morton Browne kicked four valuable goals for the Hawks and was their best player. Col Youren played well, while another to battle hard was newcomer Des Dickson. Graham Arthur kicked two goals. - Football Record.
