Game Review
This was first time all year when a team clearly outplayed Carlton. It may have been the impetus for Collingwood to be able to make the Grand Final with a mediocre team...and nearly win it!Collingwood managed to contain Carlton's small brigade of runners like Ashman, Buckley, Marcou, Armstrong, Keogh and Sheldon, before they kicked away in the third quarter to establish a break that the Blues just couldn't rein in. But coming on the eve of the finals, it was a valuable lesson for the Blues, and one that was learned very well.
This third loss of the season cut Carlton's margin at the top of the ladder to eight points over North Melbourne, with Fitzroy, Collingwood and Essendon making up the final five.
