The recruitment of superstar Chris Judd in 2007 asked the obvious question of the historically minded - "Wasn't there another Judd recruited by the Blues?". The answer in yes, Ben Judd, who was drafted with Pick 67 of the 1989 National Draft from Sturt in the SANFL, it was the Blues 5th pick overall. Judd played 110 games and kicked 37 goals for Sturt, retiring in 1997. Through that career he was also drafted by Melbourne with selection #39, 1992 Pre-Season Draft. Boasting considerable raw talent, Ben Judd progressed through the ranks at Sturt before making his league debut in 1990. Earlier, he had represented South Australia at the 1988 Teal Cup. Normally used in the midfield.

At this stage there appears no records of Judd joining Carlton (i.e. no guernsey number) but we at the Blueseum will be endeavouring to complete the story.

Inside Football Draftee Profile - Ben Judd
Judd first impressed Carlton talent scouts as a ruck-rover at St Peters College in South Australia. He has played only a handful of senior games for Sturt and is under contract again for this year. Blues fans don't expect to see him until 1991.
